What are we fundraising for?

We’re glad you asked. eHop’s mission is to provide timely and factual information about key town matters with the goal of increasing government transparency and fostering civic engagement. In recent years our flock earned us banners, yard signs, and social media publicity to raise awareness about Town Meetings.  This past year we were also able to host forums on:

  • Water and the Drought
  • Traffic & Pedestrian Safety
  • As well as our 5th Annual “Know Your Vote” pre-town meeting show

We hope to continue to do even more next year! So have a little fun, send a flock to a friend and support awareness of town issues!

What are we fundraising for?

We’re glad you asked. Educate Hopkinton’s greatest charge is to get more people to attend Town Meeting and vote on how our tax dollars are spent. In recent years our flock earned us two banners that were hung on Town Hall and the Middle School Tennis Courts, yard signs, a donation to Hopkinton’s Tax Relief Fund and sponsorship of one Veterans Breakfast at the Senior Center.

This year we hope to provide Hopkinton with:

  • More public outreach to raise awareness about Town Meeting and our “Know Your Vote” show.
  • A greater donation to the Tax Relief Fund
  • More sponsorships for the Veteran’s Breakfasts at the Senior Center

So have a little fun, send a flock to a friend and support some good causes!

Limited Edition Marathon Prints

HOPKINTON, MA (March 26, 2015) – The 26.2 Foundation in conjunction with the Hopkinton 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee announces the sale of 300 signed, limited edition prints featuring iconic symbols of Hopkinton’s “Marathon Footprint” including the Team Hoyt sculpture, the “Spirit of the Marathon” sculpture, the “Starter” sculpture and the gazebo on the Town

“These prints capture and express the respect, love and admiration the town of Hopkinton has for the Boston Marathon,” said 26.2 Foundation president Michael Neece.

The prints are being produced to benefit the Hopkinton 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee and all proceeds will help to fund the “Light up the Night” fireworks display planned for the evening of September 12, 2015. The prints will be sold in sets of four for a total price of $50.00 and all donations via the 26.2 Foundation are tax deductible.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase these prints,” said 300th Anniversary Committee Chair Jean Bertschmann.

“Three hundred years in Hopkinton’s history only comes around once. We haven’t had fireworks in Hopkinton in over 30 years and we are very appreciative of the 26.2 Foundation’s support to help make this special event a reality.”

The prints were designed and created by Hopkinton resident Maddie Bertschmann, a Markets, Innovation & Design major in the School of Management at Bucknell University. Learning that some of the funding for the 300th celebration had been eliminated due to state budget cuts, Bertschmann donated her time to create the prints in an effort to boost fundraising efforts.

“I’m so excited to be able to contribute to the 300th anniversary celebration,” said Maddie Bertschmann. “It’s really a professional and personal honor for me to design these prints, especially considering I’ve been afforded this opportunity without even having graduated college yet. Aside from my time at Bucknell, I have lived in Hopkinton my entire life, so the town is very much integral to who I am. Having the opportunity to pay homage to the town in my own way is really incredible. Ultimately, I just hope that the prints provide a little reminder to the families whose homes they hang in of the beauty of Hopkinton’s history and community, which is what really makes this town so special.”

To pre-order and reserve your $50.00 4-piece set, send an email to 300@hopkintonma.gov.

Flamingos a Success!

1st-Flocking-2013Thank you to everyone who has participated in our Flocking Fundraiser. We have raised over $700 so far and have reached our goal of raising enough to purchase a banner to increase awareness about the importance of Town Meeting. The flocks are all sold out until the end of June, but they will be back again next year.

Thank you to everyone who voted for the Signs By-Law change at Town Meeting allowing banners to be hung over Main Street! Thank you to Elaine Lazarus, Director of Land Use, Planning and Permitting, for helping with the wording of the by-law. Thank you to Town Manager, Norman Khumalo for continuing to work with us to iron-out the policies and procedures related to banners. Continue reading Flamingos a Success!

Flamingos Have Landed in Hopkinton

What are we fundraising for?

We’re glad you asked. Educate Hopkinton’s greatest charge is to get more people to attend Town Meeting and vote on how our tax dollars are spent. Out of 10,000 registered voters we barely met the quorum of 100 people the second night. This year at Town Meeting Educate Hopkinton submitted a citizen’s petition to allow organizations to hang temporary banners over Main Street and it was passed! Now we need a sign. The sign will simply read “Town Meeting This Week!” with the dates and time. This is where we need your help. Signs are expensive and we just can’t do it alone. So have a little fun, send a flock to a friend and support a good cause!

Fundraiser Results

Bertucci's Fundraiser ResultsA huge thank you to everyone who came out to Bertucci’s on March 12 to support Educate Hopkinton’s first fundraiser. And also a special thank you to Holliston Bertucci’s! We are pleased to report that we raised $180.85, which is more than enough to cover the May Veteran’s Breakfast, but not enough yet to purchase signage reminding voters about town meeting. Please consider donating $10, $25 or more. Click here to donate online. Or mail a check to: Educate Hopkinton, c/o Tara Sanda, 4 Equestrian Dr, Hopkinton MA 01748.
